Assistant Director of Estates & Facilities (Commercial Services)

The Assistant Director of EAF - Commercial Services is a strategic and outward looking leadership position which has full accountability for leadership, commercial viability and service delivery of the Commercial Services, which comprises of Catering & Hospitality; Events, Sales and Marketing; Residential Services; Housing Services and The Nursery.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, entrepreneurial and commercially minded individual with a proven track record of leading (at both a strategic and operational level) and enhancing a large-scale portfolio of commercial and hospitality services. You will be experienced in leading change resulting in improved commercial productivity married with enhanced service delivery.

It is essential that the appointed candidate possesses excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, a passion for delighting customers and the persona to lead and drive a highly motivated and customer focused ethos across a large-scale and diverse internal team.

Catering and Hospitality Manager

£46,489 - £51,899 plus excellent benefits

We teach and research across a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, law, medicine and dentistry, and science and engineering. Catering and Hospitality QM currently provide services via a business portfolio made up of catering outlets across all QMUL sites, catering directly for students, staff and summer guests. Additionally, it delivers a very successful and busy Catering Hospitality service for key University events throughout the year such as: Conferences, Guest Night, Graduations, Summer Schools and weddings.

The Catering and Hospitality Manager is responsible for the management of the University’s Catering Outlets and Hospitality QM, leading and developing a large internal team in the delivery of excellent customer service to students, staff and guests. The post holder will take a lead role in promoting and growing Catering & Hospitality QM through stakeholder engagement, internal marketing and innovation in food production, menu planning and external benchmarking of food trends and customer tastes.

The successful candidate will possess significant experience of senior retail catering and/or hospitality operations in a similar complex commercial setting. You will be a strong communicator with developed people management skills who is able to succeed in collaborative and collegial environments. The role will suit individuals with the proven ability to translate a strategic vision into an operational business plan.

The role calls for an individual with proven experience and skills in leadership and management of a diverse team together with a high degree of commercial acumen.
