- My CUBO
Our summer and winter conferences are packed with knowledge-sharing, sector updates, professional development and business solutions, and a great opportunity to see the facilities of the host university. The summer conference is also the setting for the Annual CUBO Awards.
The CUBO Residence Life conference is a new annual event in May 2019 that grew out of our popular residence life masterclasses. It includes the CUBO RA Awards.
Connecting with peers across the sector is our most valued membership benefit, and it's made easy through CUBO's online community and events. The topics on our forum are as diverse as our membership. We also share best practice and experience through special interest groups.
Working with University Hospitality Seminars we provide great-value training in management and sector-specific areas for members, partners and their staff all year round, while our conferences have a director-level programme on a theme of strategic relevance to commercial and campus services directors.
Exclusive to members, CUBO’s annual benchmarking covers accommodation, conferencing and catering statistics. Wider sector research is available in our file library and 2019 will see the publication of new, CUBO-led research.
The annual CUBO Awards are a prestigious, industry-wide event, open to all universities and taking place in June/July. From sport to catering, accommodation to marketing, they showcase excellence and innovation across university service areas. The RA Awards take place in May and celebrate the stars of Residence Life - Residence Assistants and Professionals working in university and private student accommodation.
Administration of UUK/GuildHE Accommodation Code of Practice
CUBO administers the Universities UK/GuildHE Code of Practice for University Managed Student Accommodation, one of three codes of practice for the higher education sector that were approved by Parliament in April 2006. All the codes are designed as statements of good practice which are subject to change and refinement in the light of experience. Together with licensing requirements for HMOs for privately rented property, they should help to effect a sustained improvement in the management of all forms of student housing.
National and international affiliations
Through our links with national and international bodies in higher education, we're able to keep up-to-date with and contribute to developments in practice and policy affecting campus life.
