2019 RA Awards

CUBO RA AWARDS 2019

In 2019, we are delighted to stage the 2nd annual CUBO RA Awards, in which we recognise the students and professionals doing vital work in residence life programmes in the UK and Ireland. Entry is now closed and judging is underway!

Role of the Residence Assistant

Residence Assistants (RAs) carry out essential work in developing a living and learning community, helping their fellow students to settle into and thrive in university accommodation and campus life. In some institutions they may be known by other job titles, but essentially they are students who are working or volunteering within student accommodation. As part of our mission to reward innovation and champion best practice in campus services, we are proud to recognise their outstanding achievements, as well as those of the Residence Life Professionals who manage them.

Awards Categories

The CUBO RA Awards for Universities are open to all higher education institutions - membership of CUBO is not necessary. There are six awards in this category and each university may nominate up to two RAs.

The CUBO RA Awards for Private Partners are open to all accommodation businesses working with universities to deliver Residence Life programmes. There are two awards in this category and each PBSA provider may nominate up to two RAs.

The CUBO Residence Life New Professional of the Year is open to both universities and private partners. Each institution may nominate one Reslife professional for this award, who must have no more than five year's experience in the field.

"RAs and Residence Life Professionals provide essential support for hundreds of thousands of  students every year. Only through their dedication, resourcefulness and hard work are we able to provide the environments and additional educational opportunities outside lecture theatres where they can learn, flourish and be supported. The CUBO RA Awards allow us to honour those whose contributions have been recognised by their peers as truly exceptional."

Richard Kington, Director of Accommodation, Catering and Events, University of Edinburgh, and CUBO Board Member - International Portfolio.
