Simon McCaskill and Michele Moore among CUBO 2018 Winter Conference Speakers

Digital expert Simon McCaskill and employee engagement guru Michele Moore are among an impressive line-up of speakers at the CUBO winter conference on 28-29 November at Leeds Beckett University’s Cloth Hall Court.


Speakers from the commercial and public sectors with strategic expertise and hands-on experience will address the theme of The 21st Century University Workplace, Eat | Sleep | Work | Play.


Between them, the line-up holds the following honours: Fellow of the Royal Society, Winner of the Sunday Times NED of the Year, a Guinness World Record, Freeman of the City of London and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Welcome Skills.


Moore is a strategic expert in learning and development in the service and manufacturing sectors who has won awards for her work on customer service and employee engagement. McCaskill is one of Google’s European masterclass trainers and founder of the Leeds Boost digital training initiative.


Also from the world of business are Andrew Marrins, Head of Learning and Development at BrewDog, the global craft beer phenomenon, and Jo Haigh, a renowned speaker on corporate governance who founded and is CEO of fds, a boutique corporate finance house.


Professor Peter Slee, Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Beckett University and award-winning author, teacher and trainer, will open the conference, which will include a panel debate on emerging food trends chaired by Professor David Russell. The panel are: Nic Mander, Director of Catering, University of Birmingham; Matthew White, Chair of TUCO and Director of Catering, Hotel and Conference Services at The University of Reading; Tom Laskey, Sales and Marketing Director, Sodexo Schools and Universities; and Andrew Walker, Executive Chef at Chartwells.


Sport and wellbeing are core services on university campuses that also impact significantly on working life. Carnegie Great Outdoors and the final speakers, Helen Butters and Janette Benaddi from the Yorkshire Rows, will provide an active demonstration of the crucial role of play in the 21st Century University Workplace.
