Marketers to be recognised by CUBO Awards
20/01/2015

The University of Liverpool is set to host the CUBO Awards 2015. For the third year running another new award is being added to the line up, this time to celebrate the achievements of those unsung heroes in marketing.

The award for Best Marketing Campaign is designed to recognise the hard work that goes on behind the scenes by marketing professionals at our institutions.

The award covers all areas of marketing, from branding projects to digital marketing, market research, CRM, communications and information campaigns. In many areas institutions are competing against high street brands with large budgets in order to win market share.  This award will recognise the marketing campaigns that have fought hard to capture student and public attention, often on a small budget with limited resources.

Entrants are encouraged to make a submission outlining a recently successful marketing campaign within CUBO’s areas of business.  Evidence of success will naturally strengthen the submission.

The new marketing award brings the total number of ‘CUBO’s’ up to nine, each celebrating outstanding achievement within the higher education sector.

The award categories for 2015 are:

- Best Marketing Campaign (new for 2015)

- Excellence in Student Sport Experience

- Commercial University of the Year

- Business Manager of the Year

- Best Student Housing

- Best Catering Service

- Innovation Award for Excellence in Student Experience

- Business Partner of the Year

- Lifetime Achievement Award (decided by a select panel and not open to nomination)

The awards are open to all higher education institutions and to businesses associated with CUBO’s areas of activity. Membership of CUBO is not a prerequisite. Entries from non-member institutions are warmly welcomed.

Awards venue

Following its recent £14 million refurbishment The Liverpool Guild of Students will provide the stunning setting for the awards dinner. It was founded in 1889 when the University agreed to provide a campus reading room for students.

The University of Liverpool is also the UK’s original ‘red-brick’ university. The term originates from the distinctive red brick Victoria Building designed by Alfred Waterhouse and completed in 1892. Today it has 27,500 registered students as well as more than 6000 students online.

Visitors to Liverpool can’t fail to be impressed by the city. It has UNESCO World Heritage Site status and European Capital of Culture status. It was also voted the UK’s Friendliest City by TripAdvisor and Condé Nast!

The CUBO Awards ceremony will take place on the second evening of the CUBO summer conference from 8-10 July 2015. The conference provides the main knowledge sharing and networking forum of the year for CUBO members and this year has a theme of change, challenge and opportunity.

The opportunity to showcase good practice at your institution through the CUBO awards should not be overlooked. A previous winner has said: “team members were delighted with the award because it recognised their hard work and dedication to providing the best student experience possible”.  Whilst nominees are shortlisted by the awards panel, the awards are truly democratic, winners are voted for by CUBO members themselves.

All entrants are invited to make their submissions by the end of February 2014. Submissions should be a maximum of 600 words in length and accompanied by up to three photographs. Full entry details can be found on the awards pages of this website along with more information about the awards and previous winners. If you have any questions about your entry or the awards criteria please email awards@cubo.org.uk.

Good luck with your entry and we hope to see you at the ceremony in July!
