CUBO Awards 2017
01/02/2017

It’s that time of year again; CUBO is inviting entries for the CUBO Awards 2017.

The CUBO Awards 2017 will take place on 28 June at the University of Kent. All UK HEI’s are invited to enter one or more of the nine award categories. CUBO membership is not a prerequisite. CUBO also welcomes entries from sector suppliers in the Business Partner of the Year category.

In 2017 CUBO wishes to shine a spotlight on three of its award categories: Commercial University of the Year, Business Partner of the Year and the CUBO Lifetime Achievement Award.

Commercial University of the Year

A University that shows they have taken their institution to the next level in delivery, showing the commercial benefits achieved.

In 2017 the submission rules for this category will be amended to allow longer entries of up to 1000 words plus 3-5 images.  The CUBO Awards Panel should like to encourage entries that showcase the success of their whole commercial/campus services function. A higher word count is designed to make it easier to cover the whole area (including catering, residential, hospitality, sports and services) creating a broader picture of the work involved.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Someone who has devoted significant time and energy to the CUBO membership and their interests and made a continual and exceptional contribution to the HE sector.

For the first time, in 2017 members will be invited to nominate a colleague for the lifetime achievement award. This award was previously decided by the Chair of CUBO alone but from 2017 members are encouraged to nominate a deserving colleague.

Nominations should take the form of standard CUBO Awards entry, a written submission of up to 600 words, with a 100-word summary and up to 3 images. The Awards Panel will review these nominations and make recommendations to the Chair. The Chair will then choose a winner.

Business Partner of the Year

A business partner that shows they have fully integrated into the universities they work with, with marked outputs in the delivery of high quality services to enhance the student experience.

CUBO is keen to recognise the outstanding work delivered by suppliers to the HE sector.  There are a large number of companies who have built close relationships with CUBO members, providing invaluable support in the delivery of student services. CUBO wishes to encourage more suppliers to take up the opportunity to enter the awards.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The CUBO Awards ceremony will take place on the second evening of the CUBO summer conference from 27-29 June 2017 at the University of Kent. The conference provides the main knowledge sharing and networking event of the year for CUBO. In 2017, for the first time, non-members will be invited to attend the conference giving a taster of what CUBO is all about. This provides a great opportunity for non-members to both enter the awards and attend the conference for the first time.

All CUBO Award entrants should make their submissions by the deadline of Friday 24 February 2017. Submissions should be a maximum of 600 words in length and accompanied by up to three photographs. Full entry details can be found at www.cubo.org.uk.

Good luck with your entry and we hope to see you at the ceremony in June.
