Free shuttle
We are delighted to announce that a free shuttle service is being sponsored by our host, The University of Kent, on Tuesday 27th June.   The service will operate from Canterbury West railway station, 15 minutes before registration opens until registration closes. There will also be transfers from London Gatwick and London Heathrow airports, times tbc. 

By car:

From London, the North and East Anglia (via M25 clockwise): Leave M25 at junction 2 signposted A2 Canterbury, continue on A2/M2, leave M2 at junction 7 signposted A2 Canterbury. Follow signs to Canterbury.

From the West and South-West (via M25 anticlockwise): At M25 junction 5 continue ahead on M26(M20) signposted Maidstone, leave M20 at junction 7 signposted A249 Canterbury, join M2 at junction 5 for Canterbury, leave M2 at junction 7 signposted A2 Canterbury. Follow signs to Canterbury.

From the South-East: Maidstone and Tonbridge: M20, A249, M2, A2 Ashford: A28 Folkestone: M20, A28 Dover: A2.

From Canterbury to the campus: 

Via A2 eastbound/London: Rheims Way, London Road, Whitstable Road, University Road. 

Via A2 westbound/A28: Wincheap, Rheims Way, London Road, Whitstable Road, University Road.

 

By air:

London Heathrow; London Underground to the National Rail mainline station you intend to travel from (see 'rail' tab).

London Gatwick; Gatwick Express to London Victoria (30 mins four times each hour). If you are not traveling to Canterbury from London Victoria, take the London Underground to the National Rail mainline station you are traveling from (see 'rail' tab).

London Stansted; Train to Tottenham Hale station (30mins), London Underground to the National Rail mainline station you intend to travel from (see 'rail' tab).or Stansted Express to London Liverpool Street railway station (45 mins), London Underground to your National Rail mainline station.

London Luton; Train to London Bridge railway station (50 mins), train from London Bridge to Canterbury West (90 mins).

By rail:

London (St Pancras) to Canterbury West: High speed trains - journey time approximately 55 minutes. Trains depart on an hourly basis.

London (Victoria) to Canterbury East: journey time approximately 85 minutes.

London (Charing Cross or Waterloo East) to Canterbury West: journey time approximately 90 minutes.

Passengers who have to cross London from one main-line terminus to another are advised to allow one hour between their arrival and departure times in which to do this.

By bus:

National Express runs a regular service from London Victoria coach station to Canterbury bus station. From here, you can catch the Unibus (Uni 1, Uni 2) or Number 36 bus service to the University campus.

 

To the University from:

Canterbury Bus Station - regular bus service Uni 1, Uni 2 or Number 36, takes approximately 14 minutes.

Canterbury East train station - turn right straight outside the station (do not cross the bridge opposite the station) and follow the road to the bus stop - regular bus service Uni 1, Uni 2 or Number 4.

Canterbury West train station - turn right and walk to the end of the road, cross the road at the zebra crossing and the bus stop is on the left - regular bus service Uni 1, Uni 2 or Number 4.

You should alight at Keynes bus stop.

 

Return from the University (Keynes bus stop) to:

Canterbury Bus Station – regular bus service Uni 1 or Uni 2, takes approximately 14 minutes.

Canterbury East train station - regular bus service Uni 1 stops on opposite side of the road to the station - walk towards the entrance to Dane John Gardens, then go right up the steps and cross over the bridge to get to Canterbury East station.

Canterbury West train station - regular bus service Uni 2 stops outside the station (or Uni 1 - alight at bus stop on London Road and walk down St Dunstan's Street, turn left into Station Road West to get to Canterbury West station).

By foot (from Canterbury West):

You can walk from Canterbury West train station (about 25-30 minutes).

  • Turn left out of the station and walk to the end of the road.
  • Just after the 'Goods Shed' market on your left, take the footpath on the left and take the subway under the railway line.
  • The University is signposted on blue signs from here.
